As you know, the CCFP Roundtable convened the Remote Visit Protocol Workgroup and provided common sense recommendations for remote visits to the California Department of Education (CDE). This was done in response to COVID-19: Child Nutrition Response #39 (Nationwide Waiver of Onsite Monitoring Requirements for Sponsors in the Child and Adult Care Food Program). The workgroup then put together some key considerations CACFP Sponsors could use while establishing protocols and polices around remote visits and put it in an easy to use tool, The Remote Review Protocol Guide for the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
The workgroup determined there were seven main topics which include:
Types of remote reviews
Barriers to technology
Privacy
Unannounced review visits
Original signatures
Meal observations
Support of the CACFP Operator
For each of these topics there are several key considerations, quotes from the field and helpful hints based on real world experiences by CACFP Sponsors who have been executing remote visits for a couple of months.
The Remote Review Protocol Guide for the Child and Adult Care Food Program is FREE for members. Members - email coordinator@ccfproundtable.org for the promo code! This useful guide is $20.00 for non-members.
There will be additional training opportunities to hear about guidance and share experiences regarding remote reviews - stay tuned! There will be two sessions about this topic at the CCFP Roundtable Virtual Conference: Tools for Remote Monitoring and Effective Desk Audits and Standards for Conducting Remote Monitoring for Home Sponsors.
