We’re back for our second Virtual Roundtable Deep Dive, bringing CACFP professionals together from across the country for a focused morning of learning and connection on March 10, 2026, from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM PST. This session explores the complexity of feeding in early childhood settings and the vital role CACFP providers play in supporting children and families during mealtimes.

The event will be live, with opportunities to engage directly with our expert speakers, and will remain available for on‑demand viewing for one full year after the session. Attendees will gain practical, relationship‑centered strategies they can apply immediately in their programs.

Simultaneous Spanish interpretation will be provided to support all CACFP professionals and Family Child Care providers who prefer to learn in Spanish.

CACFP Roundtable was formed in 1977 and is a nonprofit organization that works alongside the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) community to educate, advocate, and support the field. Session Description

Grab your favorite snack and join us for a dynamic session on Pediatric Feeding Disorder (PFD)—a condition affecting more than 1 in 37 children under age 5, and as common as autism or cerebral palsy. Early interventionists and CACFP professionals are often the first to support families facing mealtime challenges, which can be stressful for children, staff, and caregivers alike. Through a compassionate, relationship-focused lens, feeding therapists Allie Glazer, M.S.CCC-SLP/L, and Angela Hughes, M.S.CCC-SLP/L will reframe "picky eating," highlight the complexity of feeding, and distinguish typical struggles from PFD.

Participants will learn about the four domains of PFD, debunk common feeding myths, and discover why mealtimes can be overwhelming—often due to sensory and skill-based factors, not just behavior. The practical "3 P’s Framework"—Proactive Preparation, Practical Presentation, and Partnership—will equip you with actionable, pressure-free strategies to support positive food experiences and healthy caregiver-child relationships. Walk away ready to spot red flags, use screening tools, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and empower families and staff to champion lifelong healthy relationships with food.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this deep dive, you’ll learn:

The four domains of Pediatric Feeding Disorder (PFD) and how they all interact and impact one another
The truth regarding the top myths of PFD
How to use a screening tool with your team to identify if the child’s feeding is developmentally appropriate, or if a referral to a feeding therapist is warranted
How to apply the "3 P's Framework" (Proactive Preparation, Practical Presentation, and Partnership) to mealtimes

Access & Support

Spanish interpretation will be available throughout the live Deep Dive to support all attendees who prefer to learn in Spanish. Slides and handouts will also be provided in Spanish so attendees can engage with the content in the language that works best for them.

Both the English and Spanish versions of the Deep Dive will be recorded and made available for on‑demand viewing for one full year after the session.

MEET THE SPEAKERS

Allie Glazer MS, CCC-SLP/L

Speech-Language Pathologist

Allie Glazer, M.S. CCC-SLP/L holds a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Loyola University Maryland, and has been a practicing SLP since 2012. She has worked across the lifespan in school, medical, and home health settings. Owner of alliemslp Speech Therapy Group, Inc., she provides in-home /virtual speech and feeding therapy on the San Francisco Bay peninsula through a strengths- and routines-based lens. EI is her passion population, and championing tiny humans and their grown ups is her favorite part of the job. Her dysphagia and feeding interest started in adult medical speech pathology, and branched out to Early Intervention during her first job where she learned she could combine her love of babies with her love of snack time.

Angela Hughes MS, CCC-SLP/L

AuDHD (Autistic and ADHD) Speech-Language Pathologist

Angela Hughes, MS, CCC-SLP/L is an AuDHD (Autistic and ADHD) Speech-Language Pathologist working in Arizona Early Intervention Program (AzEIP) who has passion for partnering with caregivers of children with pediatric feeding disorders and complex communication needs. AzEIP provides services within a Team Based EI model and promotes "bagless" coaching. Angela has been an EI SLP for 9 years and was previously a Developmental Special Instructor (Early Interventionist) in AzEIP before earning her master’s degree at Emerson College. Angela learned that feeding was a part of the SLP’s scope of practice during observations at a children’s hospital and ensured that she received training during graduate school in the NICU, a feeding clinic, and in EI. As a life-long learner, Angela strives to support families with intervention supported by current research as well as through the lenses of neurodiversity affirming practices and responsive feeding therapy.

2025 Roundtable Deep Dive: Infant & Toddler Nutrition

In 2025, we went full‑on scuba with a comprehensive, day‑long exploration of infant and toddler nutrition in the CACFP. This virtual Deep Dive brought together providers, sponsors, and partners from across the country for a rich, immersive learning experience focused on supporting our youngest children.

Participants chose between two learning tracks—infant nutrition (0–12 months) and toddler nutrition (12–36 months)—and engaged in a full schedule of live sessions, breakout discussions, and a panel conversation on navigating CACFP requirements while partnering with families. Topics ranged from trust‑based feeding and developmental readiness to breastfeeding support, food allergies, and safe self‑feeding practices.

The event also featured early access to a virtual lobby, opportunities to connect with peers, and a full year of on‑demand viewing for continued learning.

Our 2025 Deep Dive set the tone for high‑quality, community‑centered professional development—and we’re excited to keep building on that foundation.
