New Branch Chief of CACFP at CDSS

Introducing Jessie Rosales as the Branch Chief, Child and Adult Care Food Program within the Family Engagement and Empowerment Division (FEED). The Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP) is a state and federally funded Child Nutrition Program (CNP) designed to provide nutritious meals and snacks served to infants, children, and adults. The program joined the department in July of 2021. CACFP providers are reimbursed for meals and snacks that are served. The goal of the program is to enhance participant health and well-being.

Mr. Rosales has an extensive background in advancing issues of equity, particularly for communities of color who have been marginalized, and has a long history of working in social service programs within the Department of Social Services. With over 10 years of experience, Mr. Rosales has engaged in work in the child welfare space where he has provided leadership while working with counties in situations that have been highly sensitive and in the public eye.

Moreover, Mr. Rosales has an extensive history of cross-sector diverse coalition building, which has led to achieving data-driven solutions advancing equitable opportunities for children and their families. He has a demonstrated track record and passion for improving the lives of low-income and vulnerable Californians, particularly children and families, which closely aligns with the mission of CDSS, CACFP and FEED.
